Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid this summer
The 22-year-old has been linked with both Real Madrid and Liverpool for some time, while Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly entered the race to land his signature. He’s expected to be on the move before the new season, leading to widespread speculation over his next destination.
Speaking in an interview with French TV channel TeleFoot, he said: “I’m not troubled by that (rumours), because it’s a position I’ve always wanted to be in. As long as I’m followed by the top clubs, that means I’m doing good things.”
Tchouameni is currently on international duty with France and was part of the team that were beaten 2-1 by Denmark in the UEFA Nations League on Friday. Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has also been called up to the squad after Raphael Varane was forced to drop out through injury.
Liverpool’s interest in the player is well known, although recent suggestion is he has in fact made up his mind with Real Madrid the likely destination. Liverppol were informed by Tchouameni’s representatives that he was poised to join the La Liga champions later this summer.
The Reds are targeting a young, high calibre midfielder to rejuvenate their ageing engine room. The likes of Nicolo Barella and Jude Bellingham have been touted as potential alternatives to Tchouameni, but the lingering rumours insinuate the £80 million man is Jurgen Klopp’s pick of the bunch.
Reports in Spain this week point towards PSG’s approach complicating a deal with Los Blancos unable to match the £85 million fee put forward by the French champions. The report adds that Monaco are expected to make a decision next week over which offer to accept.
