Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic is being targeted by Liverpool this summer with manager Jurgen Klopp eyeing up a like-for-like replacement for Bayern Munich-bound Sadio Mane

Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic could be persuaded to jump ship to Liverpool this summer with manager Jurgen Klopp keen on pinching the disgruntled American and bringing him to Merseyside.

With Sadio Mane set to join Bayern Munich, and Mo Salah’s long-term future anything but secure, Liverpool are in the market for a speedy wide-man who could slot into their notoriously high-octane front three.

Chelsea have little reason to sell, particularly to a direct rival, but Pulisic has struggled for form and regular first-team football under Thomas Tuchel and would more than likely be open to the move if Liverpool pushed hard enough for it.

Pulisic and Klopp have something of a history too. While the 23-year-old never actually played for the German, they crossed paths for three months at Dortmund before Klopp’s departure in May 2015.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp once had high praise for then-Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic and suggested that the winger would cope with a transition to the Premier League. Resurfaced comments made by the German come amid speculation that the Reds could sign Pulisic from top-flight rivals Chelsea.

Liverpool were strongly linked with a move for Pulisic in the summer of 2018, a year before he joined the Blues. The American had produced some excellent performances in a breakthrough season in Germany.
