Liverpool are targeting Serge Gnabry this summer transfer window, and it has now been revealed that Bayern Munich want £34M (€40M) for their superstar.
The Reds have held talks with Gnabry’s representatives over signing the player this summer, ahead of the German’s contract running out next year. It has been claimed that Bayern could be forced to accept a reduced fee this year in order to avoid losing him for free.
The winger earns £115k per week at Bayern and will reportedly be demanding more than double that to sign for the Reds.
Klopp is said to be desperate for attacking reinforcements ahead of next season given the Reds’ star forwards Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah are reportedly set to leave the club in search of a new challenge.
Since joining Bayern Munich from Werder Bremen in 2017, the Arsenal reject has racked up an impressive 45 goals in 122 appearances, with people comparing the German forward to the likes of Neymar. This has resulted in strong interest from several top European clubs.
In what seems a very similar situation to the one that the Reds have with Mane, the report states that Bayern value Gnabry at £68m, but could be forced to settle for a fee in the region of £30m-£34m instead.
Gnabry must be keen to prove himself in the Premier league after he had unsuccessful campaigns with Arsneal and West Bromwich Albion, only managing 1 goal in a mere 11 appearances. The then West Brom manager Tony Pulis even stated that the German was “not at the level to play for West Brom”.
Liverpool may have won silverware this season, but fans are still disappointed after they just missed out on the Premier League and the Champions League. This, the fact that several key players look set to depart Anfield this summer and Gnabry’s lust for Premier League vengeance make it ever the more likely Liverpool will make the move for the Bayern number 7 this summer.
