Liverpool haven’t been able to catch a break so far in the Premier League this season with Luis Diaz the latest star picking up a serious injury.
The Reds were beaten 3-2 by Arsenal on October 9 and the loss was made even more bitter as Diaz looks poised now to spend some serious time on the sidelines.
Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz will be sidelined until after the World Cup by the knee injury he suffered in Sunday’s Premier League defeat by Arsenal.
The Colombia international underwent a scan which revealed that he’s facing around six to eight weeks on the sidelines.
That means he will miss Liverpool’s next 10 games before the tournament starts in Qatar next month.
Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit 10th in the Premier League after eight games and already look out of title contention.
Liverpool are set to play 10 more games before the World Cup break and may struggle to get things back on track if they are without another key player.
Diaz started against Arsenal on October 9 but had to be replaced after 42 minutes with a knee injury.
The Colombian was earlier involved in a heavy challenge with Thomas Partey and seemed to come off second best.
Diaz cut a dejected figure after being forced from the field and has only previously missed a handful of games through injury.
Following the match, Diaz was spotted leaving the stadium on crutches and in a knee brace
Liverpool’s hopes of turning their league form around will be severely dented without Diaz in their squad. The Colombian attacker has certainly impressed so far in his first season for the Reds having scored four goals and contributed three assists across all competitions.
