Salah double secures crucial away win for Liverpool

The Reds traveled to the capital in the hope to turn around their form in the Premier League against Tottenham Hotspur.

Jurgen Klopp made just two changes from Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Napoli, bringing in Harvey Elliott for James Milner and Darwin Nunez for Curtis Jones.

Liverpool secured their first Premier League away win of the season as they held off a late fightback to earn a 2-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur thanks to a well-taken brace from Mohamed Salah, the second coming courtesy of a mistake by Spurs center back Eric Dier .

It would prove to be a tale of two halves. Liverpool were pegged back by a resurgent Spurs with 20 minutes remaining, Harry Kane netting from a tight angle after being fed by the returning Dejan Kulusevski.

However, despite Antonio Conte’s side dominating the remainder of the game. Liverpool held strong for the win. A win that could even reignite hopes of a top-four finish after the poor start to the season.

Make no mistake. This wasn’t the return of the dominant Liverpool team of recent years but its 3 vital points against a decent side. A positive result which moves Liverpool up to 8th in the table.

Liverpool’s next game is against Derby County at Anfield in the EFL Cup
