Liverpool 2-0 Rangers

Liverpool kept their Champions League campaign on track with a much-needed 2-0 win over Rangers at Anfield

The Reds quickly quickly consigned Saturday’s disappointing 3-3 draw with Brighton to the past as they dominated Gio van Bronckhorst’s men en route to victory.

A comfortable evening got off to the perfect start when Trent Alexander-Arnold arrowed a free-kick home at the Anfield Road end. It was the perfect response to the recent critics of the 23-year-old as he curled the ball brilliantly past Allan McGregor and into the top corner of the Rangers net.

And Mohamed Salah made sure of the points as he scored from the penalty spot after Luis Diaz had been tripped in the second period.

Scotland keeper McGregor was in outstanding form as he denied Darwin Nunez on four separate occasions in a one-sided first half where Liverpool were unlucky not to increase their lead.

The victory was just what Klopp and Liverpool needed and puts them in a strong position in Group A behind leaders Napoli after their fantastic 6-1 victory away to Ajax.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will now hope that victory can help them build momentum going into a crucial Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday.
