Liverpool FC founding year
John Houlding established Liverpool in 1892 following a dispute with the committee that ran Everton at the time. The businessman was the club’s president and also owned the land that Anfield sits on. But as the dispute reached its peak, he split from Everton and formed Liverpool.
Anfield has been the home stadium of Liverpool since the football club’s formation in 1892. The Reds also celebrated their 125th anniversary in 2017 by commemorating Houlding with a bronze bust outside the stadium. Works are also currently underway to increase its capacity.
